The total investment amounted to 380 million yuan! The Shanghai Qingpu construction waste processing line has a capacity of 500,000 tons per year.
As part of its efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development, Qingpu District in Shanghai has set a new standard in construction waste utilization through its forward-thinking approach and practical actions. The Qingpu Construction Waste Recycling Center, a microcosm of this green cycle, not only addresses the problem of construction waste disposal but also injects new energy into the city's sustainable development.
I. Background and Challenges

With the acceleration of urbanization, the amount of construction waste is increasing daily. The effective disposal of this waste has become a major challenge for urban authorities. Qingpu District, as an important district of Shanghai, also faces the same problem. To address this issue, the Qingpu District Committee and Government decided to explore new ways of handling construction waste.
II. Innovative Methods
With the support of the Qingpu District Committee and Government, Shanghai Chengtou Environment (Group) Co., Ltd. and the Qingpu District Greening and Public Sanitation Bureau jointly established the Qingpu Construction Waste Resource Utilization Center. The center uses construction waste as its main raw material and achieves volume reduction and resource utilization of construction waste through scientifically sound pre-treatment and recycling processes.
The center has a powerful processing capacity, designed to process up to 500,000 tons of construction waste per year. The production line is divided into a construction waste processing line and a demolition waste processing line, with a daily capacity of 1000 and 500 tons respectively. The center is equipped with advanced equipment such as chain feeders, step screens, tension screens, and crushers, ensuring efficient, environmentally friendly, and intelligent production.
III. Significant Achievements
Through meticulous processing, construction waste is transformed into recycled sand and aggregates with fractions of 0-5-10-31.5 mm. These recycled materials are widely used in the production of recycled bricks, recycled concrete, and recycled water-stabilized materials, ensuring a closed-loop cycle from construction to construction.
Test data shows that all finished materials meet industry and national standards. This achievement not only demonstrates the technical strength of the Qingpu Construction Waste Recycling Center but also makes a positive contribution to environmental protection and the sustainable development of the city.

IV. Summary and Prospects
The successful practice of the Qingpu Construction Waste Recycling Center offers new ideas and methods for urban construction waste recycling. It not only solves the problem of construction waste disposal but also promotes resource recycling and environmental protection. In the future, thanks to the continuous development of technologies and the popularization of their application, the Qingpu Construction Waste Recycling Center is expected to play an even more important role in the sustainable development of the city.
