Flotation reagent is the key factor affecting the flotation effect of copper ore, which directly determines the copper recovery rate and concentrate quality. Choosing the right flotation reagent and mastering the correct use skills can effectively improve the flotation effect and reduce reagent consumption, reducing operation cost.
### Reagent Selection Principles
1. Adapt to Ore Characteristics: For copper ore with simple mineral composition and high grade, select xanthate as collector, pine oil as frother, which is cost-effective; for copper ore with complex mineral composition and low grade, select composite collector (xanthate + dithiophosphate), which can improve the collection efficiency of copper minerals.
2. Match Flotation Process: For rough flotation, select high-efficiency collector with strong collection capacity to improve the recovery rate; for fine flotation, select high-selectivity collector to improve the concentrate grade; for scavenging flotation, select low-cost collector to reduce reagent consumption.
3. Environmental Protection Requirements: Select flotation reagents with low toxicity, no pollution, meeting the environmental protection standards of the project location. Avoid using reagents that are harmful to the environment and human health.

### Use Skills
2. Optimize Reagent Addition Method: Adopt the method of "multi-point continuous addition" instead of one-time addition, which can improve the utilization rate of reagent. Add the collector first, then the frother, with an interval of 5-10 minutes, ensuring full reaction between reagent and copper minerals.
3. Control Flotation Conditions: The pH value of flotation pulp, temperature and stirring speed will affect the effect of reagent. For xanthate collector, the optimal pH value is 8-10; the pulp temperature is controlled at 20-30℃, which can improve the reagent activity.
### Application Case
A 150TPH copper ore flotation line in Peru optimized the reagent selection and use method: replaced the single xanthate collector with a composite collector, adjusted the reagent dosage to 120g/t (collector) and 30g/t (frother), and adopted multi-point continuous addition. After optimization, the copper recovery rate increased by 6%, the reagent consumption decreased by 15%, and the annual cost was reduced by 120,000 US dollars.
